This menora was sculpted into a stone at a synagogue found in Migdal or Magdala.

We had another companion study with President and Sister Kotter. We love these, wish they could be every week. This time we talked about the Portable Tabernacle/Ark of the Covenant.

Listed below are some You Tube videos where you can watch the logistics of the making of the Portable tabernacle. We highly encourage you to watch these videos as it will help in your understanding of some of the highlights we will share.

There are 12 loaves of bread (shewbread) {In Hebrew means Bread of Display to be laid on the golden table}, which represents the 12 tribes of Israel. He, Jesus Christ is the bread of Life, and He, Jesus Christ is our nourishment.

Exodus 25: Israel is commanded to donate property and build a tabernacle. the ark of testimony (with the mercy seat and cherubims), a table (for the shewbread) and the candlestick, all according to patterns shown to Moses on the mount. The Cherubims on the Mercy Seat represents two witnesses; in our present day covenants there are two which require witnesses our First covenant which is Baptism and the Crowning Covenant the Sealing.

This whole chapter of Exodus 25 explains how the tabernacle was to be built.

Menora - Exodus 25:31 And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers shall be of the same. (the same or one piece)

Knop [S] some architectural ornament. Heb. kaphtor ( Exodus 25:31-36 ), occurring in the description of the candlestick. It was an ornamental swell beneath the cups of the candlestick, probably an imitation of the fruit of the almond.

32-40

These scriptures explains the Menora and the 7 branches is a symbol of the number of perfection. An almond bud, or knop represents the first tree that blossoms in the tree. 7 lights burn always from olive oil.

The garden of Gethsamane - is the olive press

A cubit is a sacred form of measurement from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger. Horizontal represents the Earth and Verticle represents pointing toward Heaven. Think about the significance of the cubit as you raise your arm to the square. In the scriptures it talks about adding a cubit to our stature. How can that be done? Raising your hands above your head makes you taller than you are. (Think Temple).

Tribe of the Levi was the only ones who could move the tabernacle.

Christ is our source of Light. Right before going to the veil of the tabernacle- prayers of the righteous are sent up to heaven. (Think Temple!) When a family would come to the Portable Tabernacle they would come once a year to make that offer. While sacrifices were being made, the Priests were offering a prayer on behalf of the family. The Priests were on one side of the altar and the family would be on the opposite side of the altar. In our meetings we have this symbolism with the sacrament table representing an altar. Priests are on one side and we the recipients are on the other side of the table/altar.

The Aaronic Priesthood when they bless and pass the sacrament are acting as Priests of old as they did in the Portable Tabernacle. The Aaronic Priesthood is to prepare the way. They bestow the blessings to others. How important for these Aaronic Priesthood holders to know they are worthy to bestow such an ordinance to those who are renewing covenants.

The Bishop represents the High Priest. He is the one who represents the ward and confirms that the prayers said over the sacrament are said correctly. The Bishop is our key to the Sacrament on the Earth it is through his Priesthood that we are able to perform the Sacrament. During the time of the portable tabernacle There was no disrespect, no messing around or they would die. Leviticus 10:1-2. And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron took either of them his censer and fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

and there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

References for the above scriptures are also in Exodus 30:6-10 and 2 Nephi 30:10.

It is our hope and prayer that you would read this and liken the scriptures to your own life and reap the blessings for your life as it has blessed ours.

This is the Menora that has been built for the Temple to be built in Jerusalem.
