We had a Visiting Authority Elder and Sister Choi (Pronounced Chay) from South Korea. They came and did a mission tour with our Colorado Colorado Springs Mission. He was born in Seoul, Korea. He married Bon Kyung Koo in September 1982. There wasn't a temple in Korea at that time, and they were later sealed for Time and All Eternity in September 1983 in the Laie Hawaii Temple. He is a General Authority Seventy and is currently serving in that calling. He and his wife were Mission President of the Washington, Seattle Mission (2013-2015).
His quote each time he spoke:" If you can't understand Elder Choi, that's your problem. If you are listening to the Spirit then you will understand".
When you abide with the Spirit of the Lord you do everything. When you bring the power of the Spirit, think of an orchestra, with all the instruments together they become one voice. Proselyting Missionaries have a great voice to speak the word of the Lord.
Elder Choi served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 8 months when he was called to serve for his Country. Then he was assigned to be the body guard of the President of South Korea. When he finished his Military service he went on to finish a year in the Mission. He learned how to Kill with one finger, but never had to kill anyone.
Elder Choi talks in our Zone Conferences (Two of these conferences). How do we obtain Power of God? He says: Power come with your faith and obedience. If you choose to follow God constantly you will see the power of heaven. Obedience is an expression of love to our Heavenly Father. The Holy Ghost is always there when you focus on the One. (not ourselves)
He continues: "think of all the blessings that will come to pass while on your mission. Your family, and those you love are being blessed in Celestial ways. Serving a mission is the greatest opportunity, as families we all work together because we are family.
Elder Choi also presided over our Stake Conference as we had a new Stake Presidency put in. He asked everyone in the congregation. Raise your hand if you know of a friend, Loved one, neighbor who fought in the Korean War. Many Many people raised their hands. He then said: Thank you because you helped save us by so doing the gospel was able to come to our Land.
At our last Zone Conference he and Sister Choi asked all the Young Missionaries to bear their testimony of thankfulness for the Senior Missionaries and our Mission Leaders. They had them sing "A Child's Prayer". as a way to bear their testimony of gratefulness for our Service.
He gave some scriptures of singing Praises of Gratitude
Job 38:7 Sing with Heart
Alma 5:26 Change of Heart
Doctrine & Covenants 25:11-12 Song of Heart
Doctrine & Covenants 133:33 Song of Everlasting Joy
Whenever we are tired, disappointed, sad, depressed, SING SING SING!!!
Attached is the Song sung by Some of our Missionaries. There wasn't a dry eye in the room and it was pretty powerful. We as Senior Missionaries were up on the stand watching all of these young people singing. It became personal as you would look out to those individuals you have served with. Knowing of some of their struggles, their challenges and mostly their love for the Savior, Jesus Christ and their willingness to Press Forward with Faith.
