Isaiah Day One With Donald W. Parry.
In the fall of 2022, We had the privilege of going to Israel with this renowned scholar. Our mission President and his wife are good friends with him and got him to come to our mission and teach us missionaries solely about understanding the book of Isaiah. He came for 4 days and taught us 2 hours each of those days. He even had two firesides. We will share some of our teachings over the next little while on our emails. These are our notes taken so you might have to do some research on your own. Our hope is that you will gain a better understanding of the Book of Isaiah.
Biography
Donald W. Parry, Professor of Hebrew Bible and Dead Sea Scrolls at Brigham Young University, is married to Camille Mills, from Las Vegas, Nevada; they have six children. He has served as a member of the International Team of Translators of the Dead Sea Scrolls since 1994. He has authored or edited thirty-three books, ten of which pertain to the scrolls and five deal with the writings of Isaiah. Parry has also published articles in journals, festschrifts, conference proceedings, and encyclopedias. He is also a member of several other professional organizations, including the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament, Groningen, The Netherlands, Society for Biblical Literature, Atlanta, Georgia, and the National Association of Professors of Hebrew, Madison, Wisconsin. Parry presently serves as a member of the Dead Sea Scrolls Foundation Board of Trustees.

In the book of Isaiah, the name Jehovah is Jesus Christ. Isaiah uses Jehovah throughout this book, it is focused on Jesus Christ.
The Man Isaiah. The Hebrew name Isaiah means “Jehovah is Salvation”. Isaiah lived in Jerusalem, his wife was called the “Prophetess”. His sons’ names were Shearjashub and Mahershalalhashbaz. His ministry began around 740 BC. He ministered in the Southern Kingdom of Judah. The Kings during his ministry were Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. Isaiah saw God in the Temple of Heaven. Isaiah probably died a martyr.
Isaiah’s name is elegantly written in Hebrew about 2100 years ago in the great Isaiah scroll (Dead Sea Scrolls)
this is the Hebrew writings of the Name Jehovah יהוה (Jewish people do not use the name Jesus Christ, they refer only to Jehovah) Hebrew writings is read right to left. When saying a divine name you give pause when you read. When the name LORD is in Capital letters that is referring to Jehovah (Jesus Christ) Jehovah appears 450 times in Isaiah. In the King James Version: it says Lord, not Jehovah.
In the book of Isaiah it presents direct speech actual words of Jehovah. Totaling more than 200 quotations from Jehovah.
King James Version (was translated by literate believers of Jesus Christ. Important to give translations by believers. A key word example: Virgin. The English Standard version doesn’t have, sayeth and they, words.
Point 2 – Jehovah presides over great hosts of Angels.
“The Lord of Hosts” occurs 245 times in the Old Testament and 54 times in Isaiah. He is the Jehovah of Angels.
1 Samuel 17:45 – Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name (name in the footnotes refers to Testimony) of the Lord of hosts,…
Lord of Hosts are protecting angels.

Isaiah 63:7-9 – Loving kindnesses of Jehovah plural application on. – He Jehovah gives praises uto us.
What makes Isaiah such an authority on the Savior? He saw the Savior on Temple of Heaven. He was in tune. His theme is Jehovah.
Jesus commanded us to search diligently the words of Isaiah. Not said about any other book Isaiah 6.
We were taught about Seidels Law, which is a switch of. Moses Seidel wrote in a 1955 article. This is when a later prophet cites an earlier prophet.
In the bible such reversed that when the leaders source is citing an earlier one it functions like quotation marks in English.

Isa 2 – Micha cited Isaiah in Micah 4
Isa is quoted in Book of Mormon with 30 hebraisms.

Cited words were key words, not like to the , and and.
“quotation formulas - and the Prophet Isaiah wrote gives the ability to understand how prophets knew past prophets. They Memorized what brethren teach.
Moses wrote Genesis (first 3 chapters temple text). Where did Moses get Genesis cited? It is cited and recited in our temples. Find that the temple happened in Garden of Eden.
DaniEL, MichaEL, RaphaEL notice the EL at the end that ending references to the sacred name of ELohim.
IAH – means Lord also notice JerimIAH, ZacharIAH.
Isa 8: signs unto house of Israel.
Jesus means Salvation Hebrew name is Yeshua.
Isaiah was a prophet of the world.
Temple in Heaven – references Celestial Kingdom
Paul wrote about temples in Hebrews.
Nephi knows Isaiah – Nephi poured over scriptures and knew Isaiah an important witness and testifier of Jesus Christ. 3 witnesses of Christ: Nephi, Jacob and Isaiah.
Prophet – Hebrew – Hadna
Isaiah’s Book is personally endorsed by Jesus Christ
It is the 23d book in the Bible
It has 66 chapters, 1,292 verses 37,044 words mostly poetry. Includes some chapters about history. 21 copies of Isaiah mostly fragments are from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Isaiah is quoted in the New Testament. Isaiah has 414 verses quoted in the Book of Mormon.
1st Comforter – Holy Ghost
2nd Comforter – John 14
If live accordingly might appear and teach face to face. Teach mysteries and secure exaltation. (2nd comforter is the highest blessing on earth).

How would people say Isaiah if built into name Jehovah. Orthodox Jews Hallejujah.
Psalm 150 or in music when by itself cant say it.
Psalm 6:2 (seraphim angels) The im at the end of Seraphim is like Elohim and Urim- 6 writings and creatures that purify people who are going to greet God. Means glorious with light as burning one. Glory of God is so big

Haven’t grown up spiritually if haven’t gave to temple.
Book of Acts King David spoke of HG. – Elohim is plural.

We will get records of lost 10 tribes it will be like writings of Isaiah.
